Continuing the new Just William collection, by Richmal Crompton, Macmillan asked Alex T Smith to interpret the mischievous schoolboy, William Brown for William in Trouble, published today!

In this collection of ten short stories, William and the Outlaws get up to all kinds of shenanigans; We see William try to discover a roman excavation site, dress up as a fairy, steal, lie, start a newspaper, put on a circus show, attempt to play the piano (he’s not very good), get mistaken for a wolf, and many more muddles!

The first story about William Brown appeared in home magazine in 1919, and the first collection of William stories was published in book form three years later. In all, thirty-eight William books were published, the last one in 1970, after Crompton’s death. This new collection of contemporary covers by well-known illustrators, including our very own Adam Stower, as well as Michael Foreman, Liz Pichon, and Chris Riddell.
