As we quickly approach Christmas day, we have a moment to settle back and enjoy a beautiful festive picture book. Written by Susan Rennie and illustrated throughout by Matthew Land, The 12 Days O Yule takes us on a poetic journey through the Scottish countryside. With stunning illustrations on each page this picturesque picture book is the perfect read to snuggle up with at bedtime.
Meet a cast of skaters skooshin, lassies birlin, sheep a-shooglin and the all-important five gowden rings. The beautiful illustrations bring this Scots version of the ever-popular Christmas song to life in vivid detail. Inspired by the traditional verse, this adaptation features easy-to-understand (and pronounce) Scots words and animals, including hoolets (owls) and bonnie doos (beautiful doves).

Matthew is an incredible talent, recently illustrating Blackwells Children’s book of the year Alice with a Why. Based in Scotland, Matthew has a deep rooted passion for all things book related, not just illustrating, but also running successful children'sevents. With a spectacular skill for visualising characters, animals and landscape, working both in pen and ink, and digitally he has quickly become a much sought-after illustrative talent. He has an adaptable style and fabulous attention to detail we are excited to share his forthcoming projects.
