Hot on the heels of the hugely successful first book in The Notwitches series written by Gary Panton and illustrated by Dotty Sutton, comes The Notwitches - Prison Break, publishing with Chicken House Books on the 14th August.
After Melanda Notwitch survived her first outing with her horrible, stationery-eating aunts (and yes, you thought that was weird), she’s back on a mission: to break her parents out of the Dark and Horrible and Disgusting Prison for Witches. But there’s a hitch - first, she and Mitch will have to find a way in! All they need is a spell to get themselves arrested. Genius, right? What could possibly go wrong?
Fans will cheer at the return of our not-witchy heroines, and thrill at the brand-new gang of crazily comic characters - including, one hopes, more nearly-talking cats and goblin roommates who hate mornings. And yes, Dotty Sutton’s black-and-white illustrations are still spectacular, sprinkling humour, heart, and eyebrow-raising expressions across every page. From the wonderful cover to the final vignette, this gloriously absurd children’s romp is brought joyfully to life by Dotty's fun-filled imagery.
