Frances Castle was commissioned to design another set of illuminated letters to celebrate this year’s Edinburgh International Book Festival. Following on from the success of last year’s Festival campaign, The Guardian asked Frances to illustrate three new letters inspired by the theme of time and quotes by revered authors Margaret Atwood and the late, great Iain M. Banks.

This year’s book festival starts on Saturday 10th and goes on until 26th August. If you’re lucky enough to visit, watch out for Frances’ illustrations on umbrellas, deck chairs, canvas bags and beer mats and send us a photo please!
