Christopher Gibbs weaves stories into every cover illustration - each one hints at the world waiting inside. Having worked on projects across multiple genres including Crime Fiction, Fantasy, Science Fiction and Horror, for both adult and teen markets - his cover designs are recognised worldwide.

This week we cast a spotlight on Christopher Gibbs' visually arresting cover illustrations for two book titles for Tor Publishing in the USA. The first is his second collaboration with author Katherine Addison, following on from the success of The Grief of Stones, this new title, The Tomb of Dragons,  will be the final episode in The Cemeteries of Amalo trilogy. His clever use of colour and contrast have created a visually captivating jacket briming with intrigue.

Thara Celehar grapples with the loss of his ability to speak with the dead, yet remains steadfast in his pursuit of justice amidst political unrest and ancient secrets. Christopher Gibbs’s evocative cover art, featuring spiraling dragon bones and claws, visually encapsulates the novel’s themes of transformation, mystery, and the haunting weight of the past.

The Tomb of Dragons is published by Tor Books and can be ordered online HERE.

His second collaboration with author Mira Grant, Overgrowth,  provided Christopher with an exciting and challenging brief, incorporating science fiction, horror and the natural world. Overgrowth, delivers a chilling blend of body horror and alien invasion, as Anastasia Miller, who has claimed since childhood to be an alien left behind on Earth, faces the terrifying reality of her origins when an extraterrestrial signal confirms her long-dismissed warnings. Christopher Gibbs's striking minimalist cover art, featuring entwined plant tendrils and ominous organic forms, encapsulates the novel's themes of identity, transformation, and the encroaching unknown, weaving a story in the readers mind long before the book has even been opened.

Overgrowth is publishing with Tor Nightfire, you can grab a copy HERE.

Staunchly opposed to the use of AI for projects such as these, Christopher uses a combination of found imagery, collage, photography and digital painting techniques to create his unique, multi-faceted cover designs.
