It’s been another fantastic year for Arena’s artists: We’ve celebrated Levi Pinfold winning the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and he was voted the best children’s book illustrator by the Association of Illustrators. Award winning Jonny Duddle’s new picture book, ‘Gigantasaurus’ is sure to become a children’s favourite. Alex T Smith was chosen to be the official World Book Day illustrator for 6th March 2014. Tomislav Tomic was honoured to work with The Folio Society on their prestigious classic ‘The Orange Fairy Book’. Adam Stower’s talents were recognised by winning the Wanda Gag Read Aloud Book Award for his brilliant ‘Silly Doggy!’. ‘This Day in June’, Kristyna Litten’s fifth picture book, is a celebration of the Gay Pride movement. Simon Bartram had a major retrospective of artwork at The Illustration Cupboard and we look forward to his new picture book, ‘Up For The Cup’. Steve May landed his dream job illustrating ‘The Diary of Dennis the Menace’. Christopher Gibbs illustrated his ninth cover for Cressida Cowell’s ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ series. Frances Castle’s interactive games featured in the new, state-of-the-art, Mary Rose Museum. We were thrilled to be involved in the launch of ‘Pictura’, Templar’s new range of high end colouring books featuring John Howe’s dragons. Thomas Flintham has adapted his beautiful Pictura artwork, ‘A Stroll in London’ into our Christmas Calendar cover image.
We’ve also seen our illustrations appear in ebooks, apps, social media, animations, films, puzzles, place-mats, mugs, bags and even tea-cloths! We celebrated the power of drawing and engaged children and adults on our Big Draw day, with the help of Discover Children’s Story Centre.
With thanks to our fantastic artists and wonderful clients, whose trust in their talents surprise and delight us and we look forward to working on more exciting projects in 2014. With all good wishes for the festive season and beyond.
