Back in April this year, Forbidden Planet posted a blog which highlighted the controversy sparked by Melanie McDonagh’s article in The Independent, titled: Where have all the illustrators gone? It posed the question about the decline in collaboration between authors and illustrators and is drawing a lost art.
Forbidden Planet decided to offer up a challenge by running a competition to illustrate a cover for The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger and The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid. Euan Cook decided to rise to the challenge and came up with this superb cover for The Catcher in the Rye. You can now see the gallery of entries here.
