Last summer Chris Garbutt was commissioned by the Usborne Foundation to create character designs and backgrounds for a new online interactive educational game for children.
Teach Your Monster to Read: First Steps helps children master the first stages of reading using synthetic phonics. They can choose their own monster avatar to explore a magical world, meet the island kings and collect letters to win prizes.
Chris and fellow illustrator, Rich Wake, were tasked with designing a whole range of backgrounds and plenty of monsters; a mammoth amount of work I’m sure you’ll agree, but the results are brilliant.
Huge congrats to Antonio, Jon and Berbank; key members of the tip-top TYMTR team.
