After graduating from London College of Communication with a degree in Graphic Design, Faranak continued her studies with an Illustration postgraduate diploma at St Martins School of Art and Design.
She joined Arena in 1986 after they were introduced at her postgraduate exhibition and has been working as a professional illustrator ever since.
Faranak is a traditional artist who provides her clients with hand drawn sketches and uses a combination of acrylic paints and paper stencils to create her illustrations. Over the years her strident colour palette has become more subtle and sophisticated with a more painterly style surfacing.
It is this 'traditional' approach to illustration and a determination to keep a hand drawn feel to her work that distinguishes her from the more prevalent digital illustration styles. Throughout her illustration career she has worked predominately in publishing, editorial, packaging and design.
